World Book Day, Google Expeditions and so much more
Years 7 and 8 have had the opportunity to explore other environments in the world virtually with the assistance of Google Expeditions. There were gasps of amazement and wonder as they climbed Everest, trekked through rainforests and visited Gothic Cathedrals.
Learning did not stop during the half term break either. Our skiers had a wonderful time in Andorra, our historians learnt much in Belgium and our talented dancers performed with professionalism and skill at the Hippodrome on Sunday. All students involved in these activities must be commended for being such excellent ambassadors for Light Hall. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff for giving up their time to endure that our young people have such opportunities.
We have launched our Spring Challenge this week. We aim to work together as a community, within our houses and as a whole school, to reduce the amount of litter on the school site to an absolute minimum. Year 11 also have the challenge of downloading or streaming as many GCSE pods as possible to support their revision. We are aiming for 15000! Our reward will be a non uniform day at the end of term, if we achieve our challenge.
Thank you to all parents for your support with helping our students adhere to our uniform policy. The vast majority of students continue to be very smart and appropriately dressed for learning and productive work. I would be grateful if you could remind your children of our policy regarding make-up and jewellery. Only subtle and natural make-up is permitted and jewellery is limited to a pair of small stud earrings and a wrist watch. Thank you, again, in anticipation of your support in this matter. My best wishes for a relaxing weekend.
