Care & Respect
The Churchill Hall and the staffroom were buzzing with everyone enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake at first break this morning. Students and staff have put in a tremendous amount of effort and work this week in order to support the Macmillan Coffee morning. We do not yet know how much money we have raised but I will announce the grand total in the Light Hall Word next week. Yet again, the enthusiasm and efforts of the students involved demonstrate our core value of care and respect for each other. Special thanks to Mrs Sehmi, who has organised the whole event and our year 9 students who have supported her.
We have had several sporting triumphs this week – our cross country runners did very well and Grace Harris, Jamie McLachlan, Scarlet Murthy and Luke White have been selected to run for the district, so congratulations to them. Our football team won their first match.
I have had the first nomination for the Golden Book this academic year – Laura Albutt is to be commended for her tremendous effort and achievement in mathematics already. Very well done, Laura!
In my visits to lessons this week I have been impressed by the excellent questions our students are asking, demonstrating how they are really thinking about their learning and taking it to the next level. All tutor groups are really engaging with the literacy and numeracy activities they are completing first thing in the morning – Year 8 have an excellent knowledge of homophones and year 10 were impressively working out the area of a triangle before 9 o’clock this morning. It is a delight to see our students actively engaged from the minute the school day starts.
I do hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend.
