Aiming For Excellence In All We Do

The pages of the Golden Book have been filling with names this week. It has been a pleasure to meet so many students and congratulate them on their success. Rosie Winder and Ben Jones are to be commended on their outstanding work in English and Hannah Grimmett, James Egan, Adam Khawaja and Halimah Hussain have been congratulated on their excellent progress and effort in mathematics.

I had the honour of  reading the finalists’ book reviews in our year 7 competition. They were all very impressive – engagingly evaluating the books they had read over the summer and enticing me to read them as well. Ben Breese, Jaskiran (Jessie) Chang, Maymuna Hussain, Eleanor Long and Christopher Wood all produced excellent pieces of work with Ben winning the first prize – Congratulations to all of them.

Mr Cobley has been encouraging the staff to be creative as well by launching a poetry writing competition to mark National Poetry Day, which was last Thursday. Year 10 will be judging the entries and I look forward to publishing some of the winning lines in the coming weeks!

My best wishes for a restful and enjoyable weekend.
