“To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.” Victor Hugo

We have been celebrating World Book Day this week; students had the opportunity to do book related activities in tutor time on Thursday and all staff displayed details of the book they are currently reading on their classroom or office doors.

Year 11 students have continued to impress with their studious attitude, particularly as many have been completing the speaking and listening element of their GCSE English language examination this week. They have the opportunity to practise for the real exams again next week with mocks in English, maths and science.

I have, again, had the pleasure of meeting a number of students  to sign the Golden Book. They are Jess Roberts for her excellent history work, Charlotte Smith for her exceptional achievement in English this term, Ellie Hatfield, Ripley Harper and Jake Cowin for their commitment to homework and Sam Smith and Gareth Barlow for their dedication and hard work – particularly in maths.  Well done to all of these students.

My best wishes for a relaxing weekend.
