We believe that it is vital for students to reflect on their skills and interests, as well as have a solid understanding of their options Post-16 and the many career paths available to them. We work closely with both Solihull MBC and Birmingham Careers Service to give students independent, impartial advice and to make them ‘Life Ready’. At Light Hall, we aim to give all students, from Year 7 to Year 13, the opportunity and guidance to start planning their future.
Since the government raised the participation age to 18, it is more vital than ever that our students make the right choices for their next steps after Light Hall. Students must either:
- Continue in education, at a sixth form or college
- Complete an apprenticeship or traineeship
- Find a job role which encompasses a high level of training.
In this section of our website, you will find various pieces of information for both parents and students, summarising the options for students Post-16, how to explore the right career and further education choices, local sixth form and college open events and more. However, if you have any further questions, please contact Mrs K Mohomed, Careers Lead on kmohomed@lighthall.co.uk.
